Dancing for treats

Trick-or-treating as we know it today originated in the Middle Ages when men and boys would dress up and dance and sing at their neighbors' doors, begging for coins and food. The practice was known as "mumming."

Irish in origin

Halloween's origins come from a Celtic festival for the dead called "Simhain." People believed that ghosts of the dead roamed the earth on the holiday, so they dressed up in costumes and left out treats to appease the spirits.
